CHILI COOK-OFF, April 25, 2009:

Our TX-1 WMA team took 2nd Place in the People's Choice Awards!   This is our first time entering any cook-off contest and needless to say, we are proud of our team and it's "sweet and spicy" chili.  We look forward to this event next year and hope to see all of our members (and non-members) to come and cheer us on!  Congratulations and big thank-you to Kathleen Lorenz-Townsend for finding the recipe, and to Melody Bronson, Anne Kowalski, Maureen Moehle and Maria Crowley and all the family members who helped with this event.  Ooh-Rah!!!

OUR MEMORIAL PROJECT - Thanks to our Past President, Maureen and one of her friends, the VFW Post 7843, Duncanville,  donated $1,000 toward our memorial.  THANKS! VFW Post 7843!  Our second re-print was sold out and we're thinking of producing a new one!

Our Cookbook project is COMPLETE!  This was such a success!  Thanks especially to our Past President, Maureen Moehle for all her work.  Thanks also to all the members that contributed the delicious recipes!  We are sold out, but we're looking to producing a new one soon. CONGRATULATIONS to Mary Alice Proctor-Payton, our Top "Donation Getter!"

Project "Adopt A Marine":  We have adopted 1ST Sgt Irene O’Neal as our woman Marine serving in Iraq.  We will be sending boxes of "goodies" to Irene, but any notes sent to her would be greatly appreciated. Please write to her at: H&S Co., CSSB-1, UIC 42201, FPO AP 96426-2201.  Tell her about yourself  (when and where you serve(d), your experiences in the Corps, where you live, what you do, etc) and send her your best wishes.  We need to let her know she has our support and we appreciate what she and all other Marines are doing in the service to our country.  We hope to post her photo here soon!

We may make past editions of the newsletter available for download.
